Abandoned CLK200 left sitting in the damp for over 3 years

My customer spent years dreaming about owning a Mercedes and when he finally found his perfect one, he grabbed it immediately. He lovingly drove it for many years before making the decision we all do eventually with older high kilometer cars, to leave it in the driveway and not pour more money into it, instead only driving it on the weekend. Unfortunately, the weekends turned to months turned to years.

The car needed a jumpstart when I arrived and the I inflated the wheels so it could be moved. The car was given a deep intensive pressure wash and snow foam to loosen up the years of mould then a 2 bucket wash. Once this was completed the car was looking much better but the paint was heavily faded and oxidized in parts. I had a pang of worry looking at it at this point, German cars have very hard paint which makes it hard to get out scratches, but I was determined. I did a three stage correction using Menzerna and heavy cut Gyeon pads. The headlights were fully sanded back and restored and the wheels given a deep clean.

I was very happy with how the exterior turned out and the owner was over the moon. Credit to Mercedes, over 300,000 kms and not being started for 3 years and this kitty purred on the first go when the jumper leads were connected. From the owner thinking he would have to scrap it to being fully restored back to the beauty it is. I love these sorts of jobs!

Lets hope this car gets to spend more time on the road now then in the driveway.
